TRIP #3 - ST. MICHAELS TO SOLOMONS

JULY 12 - 16

This trip begins at one of the premier maritime destinations in the country, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland. You will spend your first afternoon learning about the Museum’s incredible collection of historic boats before setting out to navigate the waters of Eastern Bay and the Wye River, where you will spend an afternoon exploring Wye Island. A mid-week stop in the quaint 18th century town of Oxford will give you a chance to explore one of the last great strongholds for working watermen on the Chesapeake Bay, and the nearby sandy beaches of the Choptank River provide great opportunities for beachcombing and pulling seine nets to sample marine life. On Thursday, SULTANA will sail down the Chesapeake where you will spend the final days of your trip exploring the incredible Patuxent River. Your trip will end at the University of Maryland’s Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons where (time permitting) you will receive a behind the scenes tour of one of the Chesapeake’s premier research facilities.
