THE SULTANA FUND

After almost a decade of sailing, the schooner Sultana is entering a time in her life where her maintenance needs will begin to grow. Over the next five years, the annual maintenance costs of the Sultana will grow substantially as her engine and sails need replacement and other key systems need updating. This is understandable maintenance for a vessel that operates 170+ days each year and has had more than 60,000 people cross her decks! To help support the schooner Sultana’s maintenance needs, in 2009 Sultana Projects established The Sultana Fund. Contributions to The Sultana Fund go directly to supporting the schooner Sultana’s current annual maintenance needs, while helping to build a “rainy day” fund to support future, major maintenance projects. In only its first year, The Sultana Fund has been able to set aside more than $25,000 towards Sultana’s future maintenance.
